Bekkah McAlvage
With a voice that can be both powerful and tender, Bekkah McAlvage has captured the hearts of audiences across the region. What started as a way to pass the time while working on Forest Service wilderness trail crews has turned into a lifelong passion for music.
Initially focused on Americana and traditional folk music, McAlvage has expanded her musical repertoire to include bluegrass and early country, playing and writing as a duo with her singing partner Sage Meadows as The Maybe Sometimes. Despite taking breaks from public performance, McAlvage has never abandoned her music, using it as a source of catharsis during her rigorous journey through grad school and starting her career as a public school teacher.
Now back in the public sphere, McAlvage continues to connect with audiences through live performance, captivating them with her energy and emotion. She performs solo, as part of the old-time trio Bekkah and the Dusty Rubies, in the bluegrass band Waking Hazel, and as a duo with McAlvage & Fretwell. Whether playing old favorites or showcasing her original material, Bekkah McAlvage always brings her authentic sound and soulful spirit to the stage.
