John Whelan

John is a musician who hails from Dunstable, England, where he grew up surrounded by the rich sounds of Irish fiddle and pipe music. Although geographically distant from Ireland, John's strong connection to his Irish heritage was influenced by his father, Denis, who hailed from County Wexford. Their home was a bastion of tradition, where Irish music was the centerpiece of their lives. Denis was a passionate music enthusiast, recording countless hours of live performances with a reel-to-reel tape recorder. John was deeply moved by the emotional power of the songs, even if he did not fully understand the lyrics. "It was not the words but the emotion of the music that moved me," he recalls. With a deep appreciation for the emotive power of music, John has released his latest album, Passage of Time. Featuring 33 original compositions, the album showcases John's musical prowess and has been performed and recorded by artists from all around the world. Available now on Bandcamp, Passage of Time is a testament to John's passion and dedication to the art of music.
