Lucas Lawson

Lucas Lawson is a young singer/songwriter from Santa Cruz, California, who grew up on an organic farm that exposed him to the balance and harmonies that all living things have to offer. His passion for music began at a young age, attending bluegrass barndances on the farm where he first learned to play the guitar alongside local group, the County Line Pickers.
When the pandemic halted those events in March 2020, Lucas turned to writing songs, recording and producing his own debut EP: Revisited Harbor. However, a new tragedy hit his life when the CZU Complex fires reached his home in August of 2020, causing him and his community to face evacuation orders. The impact of the fire embedded itself into his music, as he processed the loss he and his community had faced. "This Dirt," the first song that emerged from the remains scattered around his home, pays tribute to all that was lost to the flames and speaks of a community working towards recovery.
The song set the foundation for Lucas's debut studio album This Dirt, which showcases his journey of self-acceptance and social awareness. He teamed up with producer Mike Formenti of Quilted Fish Records in the spring of 2022 to bring these songs to life, exploring and mirroring the instrumentation with the intention of his lyrics.
As an artist, Lucas aims to contribute to meaningful change in the world and use his platform to shed light on the injustices and problems we all face. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, he remains focused on moving forward and bringing his music to the world.
