White Rabbit Presents Hyperreal: From Mass Reproduction to Simulacrum - Lunch and Learn

This midday talk—led by Gregory Brun, Ashland Symposia (ashlandsymposia.org)—dives into the evolution of visual culture and meaning. From John Berger's Ways of Seeing to Baudrillard's Simulacra and Simulation, we'll trace the strange journey from art's mass reproduction to the dizzying world of hyperreality. Part media theory, part cultural drift, this session invites you to question what remains real in a world saturated with signs. Casual, provocative, and Matrix-friendly.
Gregory Brun is the founder of Ashland Symposia, a forum for thoughtful exchange at the crossroads of psychology, transdisciplinarity, and cultural transformation. With a background spanning engineering, agronomy, cartography, and the arts, he brings a wide-ranging curiosity to the task of renewing our relationship with place and meaning. He leads Imago Loci, a consultancy dedicated to geospatial and regenerative approaches to place, and serves on the board of the Monterey Friends of C.G. Jung. When not facilitating conversations or guiding projects, Gregory tends vineyards in Southern Oregon, where he continues to explore how terroir can speak.
